LONG DAY! I took a day off with a plan to take the girls to the Museum!
My luck, nobody wants to go (with side comments that they have seen it before), so instead..we went to DMV to change the error on G3's student license (wrong address) - - and of course, after 30 minutes driving - -DMV is closed!
Lunch anyone? - - Hmm..negative as they are on a diet! No biggie...let's go watch a movie then - - but again, no good movie!
Fine - -let's watch WIVES AND DAUGHTERS (G2 is into classic films) - -so after 5 hours of eye popping scenes (which reminds me of Pride and Prejudice). .I am ready to go back to endless conference calls tomorrow!
Hmm..nothing to do...so I went to the computer room and checked on facebook and some blog sites on organizing tactics where people share before and after pics! The topic is focused on car organizing, so I grabbed some cleaning materials and headed out to the car - - why not...this could be fun!
But then - - there's really nothing to clean and organize as the car is squeaky clean inside (except for the floor mat). Okay, this doesn't seem right...I need to do something!

So, after a long weekend how do you prepare for the next day at work?
HOW NOT TO BE LATE? PREPARE IN ADVANCE! See my step by step preparation in actual pictures (my prep routine before I go to sleep everyday) to ensure that I don't rush in the morning and more importantly - -never be late for work:
5:52 pm PREPARE WORK BAG:
I always make sure I separate my work bag from my weekend bag. Reasons:
a. I tend to misplace/ forget my work ID (and I have to go back home)
b. I need to ensure that I carry the bare minimum to work: license, purse, lip gloss, hand sanitizer, gum, toothbrush and make up kit
c. My weekend bag is full of coupons and receipts.
Time Saved: 10 minutes (searching for ID or keys)
5:54pm CREATE WORK PRIORITY LIST:I keep 2 planners - the brown journal is where I keep track of my personal errands and the black is where I list down my to do list based on my blackberry schedules.
Time Saved: Can't measure efficiency!
5:57 pm SET UP COFFEE AND BENTO BOX Alarm is set at 6:00 am for 4 cups of coffee. I also placed my bento box and mug so I don't have to look for them in the morning.
Time saved: 2 minutes
6:02: SET UP BREAKFAST: Good thing my husband is easy in the morning: pop tarts, coffee and diet coke and he's good to go.I only eat oatmeal but still I make sure that I prepare the dry ingredients in a cup.If you noticed, we are big in vitamins - -I take 9 pills and he takes more than 15 (i lost count). It's best to prepare vitamin packs in advance Time Saved: 5 minutes
6:08 pm PREPARE BROWN BOX LUNCH IN ADVANCE: I love taking care of my husband and that includes his meals for work. His schedule is so hectic and I prefer that he takes a brown bag for lunch to ensure that he eats healthy.Tomorrow's brown bag for him includes: roast beef sub, diet coke and power bars. Time Saved: 5- 7 minutes
7:23 pm CHOOSE WORK CLOTHES:There are days when I have to change 3-4 times in the morning trying to match the right color and accessories. Work clothes is simple - - tailored slacks, dress shirt and jacket but no matter how straightforward it is, I plan in advance to ensure that I don't repeat the same color pattern in a week. Tomorrow is easy as all three meetings are through webex. Time saved: 5 minutes
7:33 pm: FINALLY, Place computer bag in the hallwayI tend to work in the evenings so making sure that I have all my work files, computer, cords, internet card in one bag saves me time from running around in the morning (worst -forgetting them). Time Saved: 2-5 minutes
When you add it up : I save between 35 - 45 minutes by preparing in advance!
